Day 9 | S1, C3 | Bankroll: $9.50

Today I’m free-rolling! I decided to play my freebie last night before hitting the hay and won $2.50 to add to my bankroll. I toyed with the idea of rolling it over into another Spin&Gold but decided not to (self-control +1}. I want a nice chunk of change saved by the end of my 20 tournaments so I can play the second semester at a higher buy-in. I hope to have a decent-sized bankroll so that I’m not putting too much money in for the 20-game tuition at the higher level. If I don’t make it to at least $300.00, I’ll play another 20 games at $2.50. The plus side of that is that I can easily see if I’ve improved over the previous session with the same pool of players.

It feels like I’m creating good habits for bankroll management. It should make me more disciplined in that regard. Also, when writing these updates, It makes me feel more accountable and urges me to be more disciplined. Knowing you’re there seems to be helping. So, thank you for that.

I just got dealt on the for my first hand so, game on!

Oh yeah, the other thing that I realized is that my game is getting better. I am analyzing every hand more closely because I’m deciding whether or not it’s worth posting about.

AJ off .. nice.

Starting with AJO as my first hand and QJO as my second, I got a jump on building my stack early and picked up 24BB only to lose them a few hands later with QQ. The Struggle is real. I think I just clued into an important understanding while playing. Starting off, I don’t have much of a reference and I imagine, like a lot of newbies, I play pretty loose. Comparatively. Having this as my reference, I inherently think that players play much looser than they do. I think that’s why when v with suited king rag, that only hit the king, didn’t raise my queens. I felt good. but now that I think about it, there’s no reason to raise when I’m doing all the heavy lifting. Probably should have bet lighter to see their action. I think that’s my bad hand for today.

I’m not sure how many hands I’ll post. For some reason, the hand history stopped loading and I just saw the spinning dealer of death symbol for most of the game. I think that’s what it’s called.

Mid L7 I got dealt 33 on the button and flopped a set. My hefty bet got called by kings who bet the turn. I raised, and they shoved. I called. My heart sank when the king hit on the river. Until I realized I had the boat. Whew.

Going into the L8 break with 108BB … There’s something very satisfying about sitting on a 100+ big blind stack.

Hit my first bounty midway through L9 and a double bounty two hands later. Feeling good. Hopefully not “tilt me” good.

Well, it was a grind until L14 break. Holding my own with 70BB. Late registration just ended and there are seven hundred paid positions from $4.29 to $772.84 for first place. I’m shooting to win (of course), but my wide target is to be on one of the final three tables. But soon after the break, my pocket 10s didn’t crack pocket Jacks so down to 20BB.

I may have said this before but, “Game on!”

Merely a cry of desperation.

Knocked out 1,064/6,892

Need to quit forecasting. Everyone’s in for the win.

So … pretty, lucky, or pretty lucky?
